RUFUS CRESSEND, SR., CPA
A Certified Public Accountant in the state of Louisiana since 1974, Rufus was born and raised in Metairie, LA. He was in the 1st graduating class of Rummel High School in 1966 and the school’s mascot was actually named after him – the Rufus Raider.
After high school, he attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now called University of Louisiana Lafayette) and graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He attended the Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Va. from 1970 to 1971 where he was commissioned an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
In 1976 he established his CPA firm, which his son, John Cressend, is a partner. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps in April of 1977.
In his years at the helm of the firm, he has received the 25 years service pin by the State Society of LA CPA’s and holds a commission as a Special Agent with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. He is a member of state Society of LA CPA’S and American Institute of CPA’S.
He married Yvette in 1987 and has three grown children, 2 sons, a daughter and 8 grandchildren.
In January 2013, Rufus was honored to be listed in the book “Legendary Locals of Metairie” as a prominent and contributing member of the area.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and traveling. He is also an avid participant in many organizations. He is the Argentier National (Treasurer) of the Chaîne desRôtisseurs (A local and international dining organization with around 6,000 members in U.S.). He is a member of the Sociétié Mondiale du Vin(a local and international wine organization) and a member of the Commanderie de Bordeaux (a local and international wine organization).”
JOHN M. CRESSEND, SR., CPA
John was born and raised in Metairie and lived there until his graduation from Archbishop Rummel High School. After high school, John moved to Lafayette, Louisiana where he attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After graduation, John began working in the Accounting field while living in Lafayette, working in both the private and public sectors of Accounting.
In 2010, John became a Certified Public Accountant and became a partner in Cressend CPA. John is a member of the Louisiana State Society of CPAs and the AICPA. John specializes in tax preparation and planning as well as financial reporting and small business consulting.
John is married to his Christy and they have 2 children.
John is a member of Business Network International and Louisiana Restaurant Association.
John enjoys many activities with his wife and family, including playing cards, cooking, and trying out different restaurants in the area. John is a sports enthusiast that enjoys playing a variety of sports, such as softball, tennis, and football. John is also a lifelong New Orleans Saints fan.
CHRISTY C. CRESSEND, CPA
Christy was born and raised in the Lafayette area. She attended college at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
After graduating from college Christy worked in the private sector of Accounting in Lafayette. After moving to Metairie Christy continued working in the private sector and also began working in the public sector of accounting and became licensed as a CPA.
Christy is married to John and they have two children.
Christy enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
BOBBI HARRISON, Notary Public
Bobbi was born in Wichita, Kansas, and her father had a job that moved the family from state to state. They finally settled in Metairie when she was 16.
She went to Grace King High School and graduated in 1977. Bobbi has been working for Rufus Cressend, Sr. for a little over 15 years and in 2008 she graduated Cum Laude from Southeastern Louisiana University as an accounting major with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. She was also appointed Notary Public, commissioned in Tangipahoa Parish, with statewide jurisdiction in 2008 and is a member of The American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers.
She is married to Robert Harrison has 5 children and 8 grandchildren.
In her spare time she enjoys cooking, reading, crafting, photography, and spending time with her family.
